Spare Tire

Cars have spares because flats can occur unexpectedly. Or else if we knew about the flat long before it ever happens, avoiding them would be natural. But it’s not. No one has ever predicted a flat. And no one drives thinking about them, either. Instead, we’ve accepted if it happens, it happens. And that’s the power of a spare. It produces peace even when it’s buried deep in our trunk and out of sight. And deep down we know it’s there. Waiting to be called in our time of need. Until then we drive worry free—enjoying the journey for all it’s worth. And appreciating the freedom peace provides and God who provided it.
